I studied abroad for the first time in 2015, and that made me kind of realize the path I wanted to take. And without the Honors College doing that, I probably wouldn't have had that kind of opportunity and that realization.
There's a wide variety of programs for students studying anything on campus, really. And one of the things that really is wonderful about our Honors College, what sets us apart from other honors colleges, is the fact that we have programs that certainly our high achieving high school students can get into, sort of what you think of as your traditional honors students. But we also have great programs for transfers and also for students who come to ETSU, and, as our slogan says, find their passion.
The research aspects of the required thesis project is integrated into their curriculum, so that there's classes that you take your sophomore and junior year that require you to go out and interview potential mentors and get started on your thesis project. And every step of the way, they make sure you're doing the right thing. You know what you're doing.
The job opportunities that are available to me now because of my research experience and the multi-disciplinary experiences that I had here at ETSU, those opportunities are much greater.
Whether you're going to graduate school, professional school, it's something that you always are prepared for.
This community has given me these opportunities that I wouldn't have anywhere else.
